Romance cum Investment Scam

Defrauding Tricks

Scammers, who pretend to be “all-perfect men or women” making successful careers and being sophisticated investors, pick targets on social platforms.  They proactively make friends with and vigorously date victims in order to establish online romantic relationships with the latter quickly.  Upon the establishment of such relationships, the scammers, starting to claim that they want to plan for the future together with the victims, persuade the latter to participate in so-called “low risk and high return” investment schemes related to cryptocurrencies, foreign currencies, gold, etc.  Moreover, the scammers build fraudulent investment platforms and make the victims believe that they have made handsome profits from such platforms in order to coax the victims into investing more and more.  After the victims notice that they have been cheated or are not able to withdraw money, the scammers cut ties with them and take their capital away.
